Theme: Leading With Resilience Into The Future

The Higher Education Women's Leadership Workshop is capped to limited numbers to allow for maximum interactivity and for everyone to come away with practical and personable outcomes.

This workshop is open to any woman who works in higher education and wants to take her next step in their career; women include transgender women and non-binary people who are comfortable in a female-centred group.

On the Day

Theme:

Leading With Resilience Into The Future

A day dedicated to helping you discover more about who you are as a leader and explore how to take the next step in your career. The programme offers the opportunity for participants to engage with the Resilient Leaders Elements (RLE) tool aimed at supporting you to lead with resilience through uncertainty and change. RLE includes a self-assessment mapping report, 360 feedback and a virtual coach with the option to also measure progress towards your goals.

Daniela Bultoc
MBA, SFRD, BA, EMCC Mentor

Winner of the UK Times Higher Education Awards and recognised at a UK national level in three consecutive years for outstanding support for researchers and academics, Daniela has a passion for supporting individuals, teams and organisations to excel in what they do.

She is also an emotional intelligence and resilient leader coach, and a Vitae Senior Fellow Researcher Developer, and has been recognised in the sector for her contributions to supporting and developing researcher development practices and policies.

She worked with several leading universities in the UK and internationally and as a communities of practice expert, in her role as UCL Head of Communities of Practice, the project she led, won the 2019 UHR Awards for best organisational culture change initiative in the sector, as she set-up and implemented impactful collaborative mechanisms across the whole organisation.

THE PANEL

Prof. Susan James Relly Associated Head (Education), Social Sciences Division & Deputy Director, Dept. of Education, University of Oxford

Susan completed a BEd at Queensland University of Technology, Australia, and read for a MSc in Comparative and International Education and a DPhil in Education at the University of Oxford. Susan’s entire career has been in education in various forms: she taught in secondary schools in Australia and England before starting her academic career. Susan’s area of research interest is in vocational education and training policy; apprenticeship and work-based learning; social mobility and non-graduate occupations; and further education, teaching and learning. As well as all the above, Susan is also the current Director of the SKOPE Research Centre.

Prof. Karen Birch Executive Dean (Faculty of Biological Sciences) & Professor of Exercise Science, University of Leeds

Before becoming Executive Dean, Karen previously held the posts of School Director of Research & Innovation, progressing on to become Head of School. She is a Fellow of the American College of Sport and Exercise Medicine. Her research interests include using exercise and physical activity to enhance fertility and to ameliorate the impact of reproductive ageing upon cardiovascular disease in women. Her research integrates the disciplines of medicine, exercise science, cardiovascular science and fluid dynamics.

Prof. Carol Hill Head of School, School of Interdisciplinary Studies & Director of Dumfries Campus, University of Glasgow

Professor Hill began her academic career as an economic historian gaining a PhD from the University of Strathclyde. In more recent years her overarching interests in the political economy and applied health and social policy have been reflected in an extensive research portfolio. Professor Hill has been Head of the University of Glasgow School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Director of its Dumfries campus since 2014, delivering strong leadership for the University’s overall strategy on its Dumfries campus and across the breadth of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies’ activities. She has a substantial track record of excellence in curriculum development and leads the development of the School’s academic, estates and financial operations and management of policies that support strategic initiatives at the School, College and University levels.

Dr. Catherine Easton Head of Department, Department of Law, University of Lancaster

Dr Catherine Easton is a Reader in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law and is Head of Lancaster Law School which is home to 1200 students and combines the disciplines of Law and Criminology. She has carried out a wide range of leadership roles in Higher Education and is currently overseeing a period of growth within the School and managing the response to changes in professional legal education. She has chaired BILETA, Europe’s foremost Information Technology Law Association. Her research interests focus upon internet governance, domain name regulation, intellectual property, access to technology and human/computer interaction. She is currently a co-investigator on the Security node of the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems research hub. Catherine has carried out research into interactive teaching and student engagement and draws upon this to guide the strategic development of the School.
